Teach-africa.com provides a new and exciting dimension to two books: Dogodogo - Tanzanian Street Children Tell Their Stories
and Emusoi - Maasai Girls Tell Their Stories.
The books, compiled by Kasia Parham and published by Macmillan,
give voice to two groups of exceptional young Africans, who speak directly to the world about what happens to real children when they are denied their basic rights. The young people are supported by two sister-projects in Tanzania: the Dogodogo Centre for Street Children, Dar es Salaam and the Emusoi Centre for Pastoralist Girls, Arusha. Both centres were founded by American Maryknoll nuns, Sister Jean Pruitt and Sister Mary Vertucci.
Our website presents information about the work of the centres - including recent events and developments - contact details, and ways to donate funds and sponsor individuals. It offers practical help on the most effective use of the books as resources for teaching and learning global citizenship in schools. The News section (our blog) links teachers and students from all over the world and provides them with a forum for exchanging ideas and information on crucial development issues which affect everyone.
